Funeral service for Mrs. Melissa Rose Black, 48 of Killeen, TX will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Melissa Rose Black, 48 of Killeen, Texas was born on June 27, 1973 in Alliance, Ohio to Roseanne Avery and the late Alfred Simmons. She completed her journey on this earth on November 2, 2021.
Melissa graduated from Alliance High School in 1992. She is a United States Army Veteran. Once she left the U.S. Army, she went to college and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Tarlton State and was only a few credits short from gaining a Master's Degree from Central Texas A&M.
She loved to travel, dance, and help out those around her. She wore so many hats for so many people and was always ready to step in where needed. Melissa loved her family with everything she had and she was everyone's big sister. Missy was known for her signature "sisterrr" and it will forever be missed.
She is survived by her husband Terrance Black and four beautiful children. In order of age, Bennie Glinsey III (fiancé Niavondria), Kesean (Racheal) McKithen, Keomoni Strother, and Myrie Black, along with two children she helped raise Erica Strother and Ajani Black. Her two grandchildren; mother, Roseanna Avery and step father Mervis Hancox and step mother, Cheryl Simmons "Ma Cheryl". She is also survived by 9 siblings, Tameki Heards, Mary Heards, Zondria Heards, Arthur (Yara) Avery, Ella (Randy) Fleming, Rietta Simmons, Alfreda Simmons, Bobbi Lynn Simmons, and Donna Hatcher. She is also survived by niecey poo's and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Alfred Simmons, her sister Salesia McKithen Evans, her grandmothers Ida Mae Harris and Aregurtha McKithen, her aunts Pamela Banks Smith and Tina Alexander, and her childhood best friend Melanie "Pooh" Jones.
