Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Thais Mayes, 78 of Killeen, TX Will be held Monday, June 15, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at the Kingdom of God Christian Center in Round Rock, TX. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.) at the church.

Mary Thais Mayes, age 78, entered into eternal rest on May 27, 2026. Born on May 10, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Mary lived a life defined by unwavering faith, resilience, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to uplifting others. Her strength through adversity and her ability to find hope in every circumstance left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved her.

Mary was born to Ruby Naomi Ray and William Ray and was raised among a loving family. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her faith, her family, and her calling to encourage others. A devoted Christian, Mary spent much of her life evangelizing, sharing the Gospel, and demonstrating God's love through her words and actions.

Mary was a faithful member of The Kingdom of God Christian Center in Round Rock, Texas. Her relationship with God was the foundation of her life. She found great joy in worship, prayer, and encouraging others in their faith. Even through life's many trials, Mary remained steadfast in her belief that God would see her through every challenge.

Mary was married to Percy Mayes. She was the beloved mother of Lisa Valentine, Doyle Ravenell, Jr., Brandon Ravenell, Devon Ravenell, and Una Johnson. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Courtney Ravenell, Wayne Valentine, Jr., Brittney Valentine, Thais Valentine, Kaegan Caldwell, Gabrian Johnson, Jazlyn Johnson, and Kourtney Curvey. She was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought tremendous joy to her life.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, and her siblings, Matthew Ray, Michelle Ray Henry, and Marie (Aishah) Ray Muhammad.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Naomi Ray and William Ray; and her siblings, Marvin Ray, Morris Ray, Marinda Ray Bogerty, Miriam Ray Heath, Melody Ann Ray, and Mona Ray.

Mary lived by a simple but powerful personal statement that reflected her confidence and resilience: "What you think about me is none of my business."
