Funeral service for Mrs. Martha R. Smith, 78 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Martha Ray Smith was born to Jessie and Mattie B. Parks in El Paso, Tx. With a sunrise of August 18, 1943, and a heavenly sunset of December 1, 2021.

Martha attended Bel Air High School in El Paso, Tx. She met and fell in love with the Jovial enlisted James Smith and after a year and a half of courtship they were wed on September 8, 1962.

Martha Worked as a CNA for various nursing homes. This was right in line with her euphoric selfless nature. Habitually a plethora of patients only wanted her as their caregiver as she cared for each individual like they were her own family. Her siblings can attest to numerous occurrences in which Martha made sure everyone was taken care of and even putting her own special touch in to make each one of her siblings feel her love in a special and unique way tailored to them.

Martha was a proud member of the Killeen Lions Club and Killeen community Senior Center. These are places that frequently saw Martha's social butterfly mentality come alive. She was front and center for costume parties with custom made ensembles made by seamstress Martha herself of course. Many social gatherings occurred around the bingo table, pickle ball and participating weekly in line dancing. However, she was never too busy to take a break and chit chat if you saw her in passing.

Martha was a gracious, bountiful, and open-hearted woman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and exploring new places traveling near and far. The light that shines out from her in the moment that she discovers and unlocks new love from family fellowship and voyaging around the world is one she will not soon forget. To know Martha is to know genuine love and compassion from the purest place…. the heart.

She found companionship with six sisters Neomi Glass, Rosa Sweed, Elaine Parks, Theresa Gallard, Mable Cartridge, and Rhonda Grant as well as three brothers, Jessie Parks Jr., Nathan Parks, and Earl Parks. She leaves behind to cherish her memory forever more her husband of 59 years, James Oliver Smith; a legacy of two amiable daughters, Victoria Ezell, and Annette Sims; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews who all kept her continuously surrounded by love and admiration.

Proceeded in death by both her parents and her beloved sister Betty Flowers.
