Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Kengi Kawon Holmes, 17 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 18, 2021 (6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Kengi Kawon Holmes was born April 23, 2004. Kengi spent his early adolescent years in Bellwood, IL where he attended McKinley Elementary School. Kengi was baptized at the Monroe Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Caliph Wyatt Jr., at 5 years old. During his time at Monroe Baptist Church, Kengi served in the Angelic Choir, the Junior Ushers, and the Mime Ministry. Kengi also participated in Youth Sunday school, Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. Kengi was also a member of the Spartans football team.

Kengi moved with his family to Texas where he attended Manor Middle School and Eastern Hills Middle School before attending Harker Heights High School, where he was a member of the band and ROTC. Kengi also became a member of Greater Vision Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. David G. Reynolds.

Kengi made his transition on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Kengi was preceded in death by his grandfather James Moore, and uncle Cornelius Holliday. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Aketha Moore (Eric); father, Warren Holmes; sisters, Aja Moore (LeeAndrew), and Asani Holmes; brother, Khajee Moore; grandmother, Cathrine Thaggard; great grandmother, Margi Edwards; aunts, Nekedra Moore, and Lacretia Thaggard; nieces; nephews; and cousins: Jeremiah and Jacobi Calvin, Lazarus, Triston, Aziah, Jasmine Thaggard, Paris Williams, Zy'iere, Quincy McKennon Jr., Aziah, Quintrell McKennon; special family friends, Andrew Holliday, Donna Holliday, Freddie Holliday (Niecy) Terrell Coleman (Tiffany); and a host of other family and friends and loved ones.

Kengi will be remembered as a quiet and humble soul who enjoyed family, friends, and video games. Kengi will truly be missed.
