Katherine Henderson, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of God, entered eternal rest on February 10, 2026, in Belton, TX, at the age of 76. She was born on February 23, 1949, in Leesville, Louisiana.
Katherine was the beloved daughter of the late Helen G. Robinson (1927–1973). She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother, her sister Emma Jean (Handy) Brown, her husband Robert T. Henderson, and her aunt, Baby Ray Hardin.
A proud graduate of George Washington Carver High School, Katherine continued her education at Paul Quinn College, Class of 1973, where she majored in Education. While she aspired to become a teacher, her life took a different path due to military family life. She dedicated 31 years of service as a Civil Service employee, faithfully assisting soldiers and their families with relocation to new duty stations. She retired in 2004 after decades of honorable service.
Katherine was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, where she upheld the values of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood throughout her life.
On January 10, 1971, Katherine married the love of her life, Robert T. Henderson (March 10, 1941 – September 10, 2022). Their union was one of commitment, faith, and family.
She was a loving and devoted mother to her two children:
• Thomas Clifford Henderson, of Austin, Texas
• DeAnn Rena Henderson, of Harker Heights, Texas
She was also a proud and loving grandmother to Jeremiah Anderson, who brought her immense joy.
In retirement, Katherine lived a life of service and fellowship. She was an active member of Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, Texas, where she faithfully served her church community. She also cherished time spent with her friends, family, and loved ones, always offering wisdom, encouragement, and grace.
Katherine is survived by her children, her two sisters, Ella Jean Handy and Rosalind Marie (Taylor) Ballard; her two aunts, Gloria Jean Gassaway of Houston, Texas, and Genova Bullard of San Bernardino, California; her grandson; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Katherine Henderson will be remembered as a strong woman of faith, a quiet leader, and a devoted servant whose life reflected love, discipline, and unwavering belief in God.
"Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord."
