Funeral service with military honors for Ms. Juanita Thompson 61, of Killeen, TX will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral in Killeen, TX.
Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Ms. Thompson passed away April 8, 2022, in Harker Heights, TX. She was born March 12, 1961, in Benoit, MS.
Juanita Butler Thompson was born March 12, 1961, in Beniot, Mississippi to the union of James and Marie Butler.
Juanita attended Sally Reynolds Elementary, Blackburn Middle School and Wingfield high School in Jackson, Mississippi. She furthered her education at Hinds Community College Nursing and Allied Health Center with a study in Health Education. Later she joined the Navy Reserve where she served for 9 Years, receiving an Honorable discharge. Her awards include Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/"M" Device and Bronze Hour Glass, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achievement Medal. Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon, Navel Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
For many years, Juanita worked with the Sheriff Department in Hinds County, Mississippi and with AMR Ambulance Service for many years. Juanita relocated to Texas, where she worked at Parkland Hospital in Dallas for the past 10 years.
Juanita had one son Antonio Lemond Thompson, who preceded her in death. Her father, James Butler Sr., also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories a devoted and loving mother, Marie Butler of Jackson, MS; three sisters: Bertha Quinn, Geneva Davis (Laurie) both of Jackson MS and Linda Coleman of Killeen, TX; four Brothers: James Butler Jr., of New York, Robert Butler of Jackson, MS, Charles Butler of Dallas, TX, and Artha Butler (Mandy) of Jackson, MS and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
