Funeral service for Mr. Jhalon Thomas Cherry, 32 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.

Jhalon Thomas Cherry was born on October 8, 1992, in Houston, Texas. He was the first of four children born to Thomas and Latashia Cherry. From the start, he was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Though his life was tragically cut short at 32, Jhalon made a lasting impact as a cherished son, brother, uncle, grandchild, nephew, and friend.

He was full of life and warmth, with a sharp mind and a generous spirit. His sense of humor, love of adventure, and natural curiosity were at the heart of who he was. Whether immersing himself in new cultures, planning a getaway, or striking up a conversation in Spanish, Jhalon embraced each moment with enthusiasm. He had a quiet but steady presence that made people feel truly seen and valued, and a gift for turning everyday moments into meaningful memories.

Jhalon is survived by his devoted parents, Thomas and Latashia Cherry; his brothers-Thomas Jawaun Cherry, Austin Jay Cherry (Pamela), Jairus Jamal Cherry, Kevin Crook, and Antwan Hall;  maternal grandmother, Mary Ellis; paternal grandfather, Thomas Cherry Sr.; maternal great-grandmother, Dichlora Gray; maternal great grandfather, Wade Singleton;  nephews, Kayden Cherry and Ki-hun Crook; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

To his friends, Jhalon was family. He had a natural ability to bring people together, lift spirits, and remind others of life's simple joys. He loved skateboarding, basketball, and soccer, and was always up for a challenge, often showing off his backflips with a grin that lit up the room. His playful energy and fearless spirit made every moment around him more fun and memorable. He is preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandmother, Emma Jean Cherry ("Grandma Jean"), and his maternal grandfather, Billy Ellis ("Papa Bill"), both of whom helped shape his early years.

Jhalon found pride and purpose in his work with Walmart Stores, contributing to teams across the country from Texas to North Dakota, Alaska, Oregon, and California. No matter where he was, he brought dedication, positivity, and a true sense of community.

Growing up in the Fort Hood, Killeen, and Harker Heights area as an Army brat, Jhalon experienced life in places like Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Ansbach, Germany experiences that broadened his worldview and nurtured his love of language and people. He attended Harker Heights High School, graduated from Temple High School, and later studied Spanish at Prairie View A&M University. His passion for language led him to study abroad at the University of Puerto Rico's Rio Piedras campus, further deepening his connection to Hispanic culture.

Though Jhalon's time with us was brief, his legacy is lasting. The love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he leaves behind will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
