Funeral service for Mrs. Janie Bell Harris 66 of Killeen, TX will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Judah Worship Center (Ministry of H.O.P.E) in Temple, TX. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the church.

Burial will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Mrs. Harris passed away January 20, 2024, in McDonough, GA.

Janie Bell Harris, affectionally also known as Jane, B. Bell, mom, mommy, mama, Aunt Jane, granny, and Sister J, was born on January 19, 1957 to Willie and Jewel Kelly in Pompano Beach Florida. Janie graduated high school in 1975 from Pompano Beach High School in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Janie graduated with an Associate degree in General Studies from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas. Throughout much of her life in Texas, Janie was employed by the Killeen Independent School District in Killeen, Texas, in the Special Education Department with children with special needs and/or disabilities. Janie had a heart of gold and loved to help others, as she was a natural, nurturer and succorer, so it was her delight to assist the children.

On January 5, 1976 she married the love of her life, her first and only love, Tommie Lee Harris Sr. They shared 43 years of marriage together. She loved her husband very much. He was her best friend; she was a loyal and supportive military spouse. She was well traveled as she had traveled the world together with her husband throughout his military career. From this union she birthed five beautiful, peculiar children; four girls, and one boy. She was a loving mother that loved her children. She was so proud of what God blessed her womb to conceived. Her favorite phrase for them was to "Dare to be Different." Janie instilled faith, love, and spirituality into her children. She taught her children how to pray, she showed them what an active prayer life looks like, and how to have a real relationship with God. She lived everything she believed and spoke about Christ. She was the REAL DEAL! Janie would cover her children daily in prayer, anointing their heads with blessed oil every morning before school.

Janie accepted Christ as her Lord and savior as an adolescent. She answered the call of God on her life as a young lady. She was truly an anointed woman of God that love the Lord with all her heart. She was a woman after God's own heart. A woman that was not afraid to show the world what Jesus could do with a life that is presented to Him by faith. A prudent and godly woman she was. She was powerful in prayer. Her prayers seemed to shake up the heavens because God always moved on her behalf. She was strong, yet so gentle and tender. Janie was an intercessor and an encourager. She stayed giving Satan, a black eye; sometimes two. No matter what challenges she faced in life, she always remained steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. I Corinthians 15:58.

In the mid-80s while living abroad, stationed in Bamberg, Germany, Janie became an ordained Missionary in the Church of God and Christ, under the amazing leadership of Elder William Rogers and First lady, Mother Diane Rogers, at the True Saints Church of God in Christ, where she ministered to and served the people of God with diligence and love. Scripture says, "with lovingkindness have I drawn thee", Jeremiah 31:3.

Janie continued to walk in her spiritual calling stateside under the great leadership of the late Bishop Arthur Ladell Thomas, Sr and First Lady Elnora Thomas at Zion Temple Church of God in Christ in Harker Heights, Texas. She was a current member of Walking by Faith Ministries in Killeen, Texas under the leadership of Bishop Elect Jimmy Rutherford Sr. and First Lady, Apostle Shirley Rutherford.

Janie was called home on January 20, 2024, to peacefully take her rightful place in the heavenly kingdom. Well done thy good and faithful servant. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Tommie Harris, Sr.; daughter, Tomika Sherman; brother, Willie Kelly Jr.; granddaughter, Thalia Harris, and sister Grace Wright.

She is survived by four of her beautiful children, Rosemary, Clayton (Adrian), Tiffinee Harris, Tommie Harris Jr. (Tasha), Tamara Mosley (Ryan); one grandson, Tyson; eight granddaughters, Janae, Anaya, Ti'Jhae, Jalia, Tinsley, Madison, Jurnee, and Zhuri; five sisters, Eva Barnes, Sharon Kelly (Terrence), Elmer, Gouch, Theresa Robinson (Victor), Christine, Kelly-Olayemi, and a host of in-laws, loved ones, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her legacy will live on for many generations to come. Her children will be mighty in the land; the descendants of the righteous will be blessed, Psalms 112:2. I once was young but now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread, Psalms 37:25. As she would confidently say with the greatest of ease. "Oh, it's alright, it's alright!" She would point towards heaven with a wink of her eye and a look of reassurance and remind you that "God's got it!" "Do you hear me? Don't you worry about a thing! It is well."
