Funeral service for Mr. James Bernard Wilder, 49 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilder passed away June 25, 2021 in Temple, TX.

James Bernard Wilder was born on January 8, 1972, to James Benjamin, and Annie Wilder in Sumter, South Carolina. He graduated from Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Army on August 23, 1990. While serving his country he received the following awards: Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Lapel Button, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Marksmanship badge with Rifle Bar, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver W Bar.  James also served in Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged on June 2, 1998. After his military career he worked overseas in Kuwait and then he worked on Fort Hood as a civilian, as a mechanic team lead.

On April 12, 2008 he married the love of his life, Alina Hayes, in Harker Heights, TX. They've shared 14 memorable years together. They were inseparable and always enjoyed being with their family and helping others.

James Wilder was a true man of God. He enjoyed serving the Lord and wherever the spirit led him, he would go. He was always praying for others and giving an encouraging word from God.   He was a true example to many on how to love and take good care of your wife and family. He was a rock in his family and community. If anyone needed help, he was always available to offer a helping hand.  James loved his job, and the people he worked with. He loved cheering his wife and her team on in the stands. He was always there to support her and their children in all their endeavors.  James did everything with a smile and was positive in every situation, no matter if it were good or bad. James fought a long battle with cancer, but he never wavered in his faith. He continued to praise God through the pain, and knew no matter what, God had the victory.

Left to cherish his memories is his lovely wife of 13 years, Alina Wilder of Harker Heights, TX; children: Zania Wilder of Harker Heights, TX. James Jr. and Jasmine Wilder of Killeen, TX Andrea Clifton and Charles Bradford, Madisonville, TX. His mother Annie M. Wilder and father James L. Benjamin and Grandmother Ellen Maple. His brothers Gaymon "Maurice" Wilder (Munik) of Columbia, SC and Frenchie Benjamin of Newark, New Jersey.  His sisters Cynthia Bracey Wimbly of Stone Mountain, GA, Detra Foreman of Columbia, South Carolina, Melissa (Lisa) Wilder of Tucker, Georgia and Sabrina Williams of Sumter, South Carolina and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his Brother in Law, Lafeyette Wimbly.
