James Anthony Henderson "affectionately known as Uncle" was born August 15, 1953, to Willie Louise (Sweets) Henderson and James Henderson in NYC's Harlem Hospital.
Anthony was raised in Manhattan (Spanish Harlem) and was educated in the NYC school system, where he graduated from Brandeis High School. Anthony was employed by Cannon where he retired in 2014.
Anthony's life was inspirational. Throughout his life, he experienced many trials and tribulations, but through his faith in God, he overcame them all. No matter how hard life seemed to get, he persevered and overcame. Anthony was a private person, but also friendly, generous, caring, and understanding. Anthony was passionate about spending time with his family. He also loved fishing, listening to a variety of music, eating good food and his Elmo hat that was personally given to him by Jim Henson of the Muppets.
Anthony may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. He will forever be our favorite uncle with the Elmo hat.
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sarah, and Ursula Henderson. Anthony leaves to mourn him: two nieces, Latonia Narelle Henderson of Killeen, TX, and Shari (Warren) Robertson of Ft. Worth, TX; one nephew, Joshua Isaiah Henderson (Ashley) of Killeen, TX; four great nieces, Jewel, Jasmin, Chanel, and Shayna; one great nephew, Trillian Henderson; three great great nephews, Larenz Davis, and Lee Kirkland; and a host of family and friends.
