James Edward Bittle was born January 3, 1963, in Laurel Hill, N.C. He passed away December 4, 2023, in Temple, TX. He confessed and received Jesus Christ at an early age.

He graduated from Scotland High School and attended Louisburg College in North Carolina on a basketball scholarship. He later joined the United States Army, serving his country from 1992 to 1997. During his time of service, he was deployed overseas and saw action in Mogadishu, Somalia, Africa, which is what the movie Black Hawk Down is loosely based on. He was later stationed at Fort Cavazos, formerly known as Fort Hood and was honorably discharged.

During his time in Killeen, he worked various jobs and held supervisory roles at Texas A&M, CTC and on Fort Hood as a Warehouse Technician. He had a heart for children and drove the school bus for KISD and recently was a beloved Crossing Guard at Fowler Elementary, also volunteering his time in the school library.

James rededicated his life to the Lord in January 2019, became a member of Light of the World and married Tamecia Fossie in June of the same year. He served faithfully on the Usher Ministry Team, which brought him great joy. He continued to support the youth and his community by attending KISD high school sporting events. James was also a true-blue Dallas Cowboys fan.

Left to cherish his memory is wife, Tamecia Bittle, his Mother-in-Law & Sports Buddy, Cheryl Parkman of Killeen, his brothers, Bobby Bethea, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Jerry Bittle, of Laurel Hill, N.C., Harold Bittle of Kerrville, TX, and his sister Shirley Shields of Irving, N.J.

He will also be dearly missed by his son, Phillip and grandson Malachi of Chicago, his nephew William, his Light of the World Church Family and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death, by Ruth Bittle (mother) Hannah Brown (grandmother) Phillip Bittle (brother) and Earl Bittle (brother).
