Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Mae Pickett-Townsel, 71 of Killeen, TX will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) at the funeral home.

Burial will be held Monday, February 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Mrs. Townsel passed away February 13, 2022, in Harker Heights, TX.

On Sunday, February 13, 2022, our beloved Ida Mae Pickett Townsel was called to her Heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ida was born in Lewisville, Arkansas to the late Dan and Euradell Pickett on September 13, 1950. She was the eldest of six (6) siblings born to this union. Her childhood years were spent in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Ida was baptized at an early age at the Wynn Baptist Church in Garland City, Arkansas while visiting her Big Momma during summer vacations. She attended the Stoner Hill Baptist Church during her stay in Shreveport, Louisiana. Upon moving to Austin, Texas, Ida joined the Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess and member of the Women's Chorus. Even though she moved to Killeen, Texas, she was still affiliated with Pilgrim Rest, travelling back and forth to attend services.

Ida attended the Stoner Hill Elementary School and later graduated from Valencia Junior-Senior High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. She matriculated at Southern University A & M University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for a brief time. Ida later married her husband of 51 years, Simeon J. Townsel, and to this union two (2) sons were born: William and Kenric. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and big sister. Ida supported her husband in his Air Force career for twenty-two (22) years. She travelled to Japan, North Carolina on two occasions, Germany, Italy, Austria, Sweden, and Austin, Texas for 33 years before moving to Killeen, TX in 2017.

Ida held numerous job positions, and later retired from Texas Parks & Wildlife Department as an Accounts Receivable Clerk.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Euradell Pickett; sister, Gracie Samuels; brothers, Dan III, Ronnie and Bobby Pickett.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Simeon J. Townsel; sons: William (Vanessa) Townsel, Vicksburg, MS; Kenric (Christina) Townsel, Killeen, TX; Six (6) grandchildren: Khalil, Kiara, Jacob, Isabella, Quaylen, and Olivia; two great grandchildren, Jenise and Aajay; sister, Barbara
Pickett Bobo, Shreveport, LA; brother, Freddie (Erica) Trammell, Houston, TX; aunt, Gloria James, Garland City, AR; sisters-in-law: Virginia Pickett, Shreveport, LA; Lessie Townsel; Loree (Charles) Johnson; Mary J. (Paul) Munday; Jenise (Joe) Beal; Elvira Green; Sheryl Ellis; Carole Townsel, all
of Muskegon, MI; Charlotte (LaDon) Carnegie, Allendale, MI; brothers-in-law: Lloyd C. Samuels, Shreveport, LA; Willie A. (Kimberlye) Townsel, Montague, MI; Jim Lee (Yolanda) Townsel, Montgomery, TX; close friends: Bernita Harris Stevenson, Shreveport, LA; Arnetta White, Austin,
