Funeral services for Mrs. Ernestine Marie Hill-Warren of Killeen, TX will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church in Killeen, TX. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Willing Workers Cemetery in Rosebud, TX.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at the church.

Educator, and Former Mayor of Rosebud, Texas, Ernestine Hill-Warren, transitioned from her earthly realm to join her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 13,2023.

Ernestine Hill-Warren was the first child of four born to Mose Hill Sr.  and Malinda Johnson Hill. She was raised in Rosebud, Texas attended Wilson White High School graduating as Valedictorian of her class. She secured her eternal destiny in the tender years of her youth at Independent Missionary Baptist Church, Rosebud, Texas under the leadership of Rev. S. J. Gilbert, Sr., Rev. S. J. Gilbert, and the late Dr. Pastor H.E. Debose. She later moved her membership to Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of Rev. R.A. Abercombie.  When she met and married Floyd Issac Warren, April 12,1963.

She was one for the founding members of Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance and leadership of Moderator J.A.  Moland where she was a Sunday school teacher and member until her sunset.

Becoming a first has always been demonstrated in the Hill Family. Ernestine earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Tyler College, Tyler Texas. Her Masters Degree at Prairie View A&M, Prairie View, Texas. Her Post graduate work was completed at Baylor University and University of Texas, Austin.

Amongst her accomplishments, she became the 1st Black Female Mayor of Rosebud and Central Texas. She was elected to this position two consecutive terms (4 years).

Ernestine taught all levels of grades 1 ^st thru 12 ^th during her career. She inspired many, many students to become great achievers in the educational and business world.  She loved teaching so much she was in the classroom for 53 years, with the Rosebud-Lott Independent School District.

Ernestine was a born leader, community minded loving, kind, considerate and giving. She loved her Family, her church, Friends and her Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Sisters.

Ernestine's Father Mose Hill, Sr. her bother Mose Hill, Jr. her sisters Dorothy Hill Smith and Barbara Hill Elliot and her husband, Floyd Issac Warren, whom she loved dearly preceded her in death.

Her Life and love will forever be cherished by her Daughters Dr. Kathy Warren-Ransom of Fresno, Texas,  Deborah Warren Goffney(Larry) of  Rosebud ,Texas, two grandchildren TaBorah Goffney of Houston, Texas , Larry Goffney, Jr. of Harker Heights ,Texas,  two great granddaughters Raelyn  & Kamryn of Cameron, Texas, two nieces Charlotte Smith Stephens of  Houston, Texas,  Flora Lynn Elliott Davis (Joseph) of Houston, Texas, two  great-great nieces Deidra Smith Hamid (Kervonh) of  DeSoto, Texas,  Traci Smith Bocock (Phillip) of  Houston, Texas, Rachael Davis of Washington, great-great nephew Joseph Davis, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Tyrone Jackson (Gloria) of Katy, Texas Jamie Jackson-Hodges (Floyd) of Houston, Texas. Innumerable extended family and dear friends.
