Elouise
Pugh
Dec 21, 1949 — Jan 17, 2024
Killeen
Memorial service for Ms. Elouise Pugh 74, of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Elouise Pugh born 21 December 1949 (to the late James and Pollie Pugh) in Mt. Vernon, Alabama, quietly slipped away to eternal rest on 17 January 2024. She was the 6th of 10 children born of this marriage. Elouise spent her youth growing up in the small town of Mt. Vernon. Once she had completed her early education, she joined the Peace Corp which took her north to the city lights of Boston, Massachusetts. While in Massachusetts, Elouise discovered her true career path and develop several lifelong friendships along the way.
Through dedication and hard work, she completed her formal education to obtain her highest degree, a Master of Education with a minor in Counseling and Psychology, from Springfield College, Springfield Massachusetts. Her education did not end there; along the way, she acquired several certifications to include but not limited to: Marriage and Family Therapy, and Domestic Violence Counselor. Both certifications would be utilized later in her life when she transitioned yet again and moved to Texas.
During her middle and late adulthood, Elouise would work extensively within the Texas Department of Corrections. Upon retirement, she remained an active member within the community. She volunteered in community and civic events, election campaigns, and at the local church food banks. Elouise loved collecting books, reading, African décor, dancing and winning every scrabble game.
She leaves to cherish her boisterous laugh her remaining siblings, a host of nieces and nephews, (two devoted Mikayla and Michael Christopher, San Antonio, Texas) and beloved friends. The remaining Pugh Family members wish to sincerely, "Thank You," for your enduring support of our sister and us during this time.
