Visitation for Mrs. Elisabeth Rorie 86 of Kempner, TX will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Interment will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the Killeen Memorial Park Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Elisabeth passed away on February 12, 2024, in the home she resided in Kempner Tx under the care of her only remaining daughter, Manuela and her son in law, Rodney Kelley. Elisabeth was 86 years old. Elisabeth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Rorie Jr and her two oldest daughters, Isolde Rorie Skelton, and Deborah Ann Rorie.

Elisabeth Rorie (formerly Elisabeth Gwerch) was born May 19, 1937, in a small German town in Liboritz Czech to her parents Anton Gwerch and Anna Dotzauer Gwerch (both deceased).  Elisabeth is preceded in death by her brother Herbert and sister Anna Marie.

Elisabeth met her husband Eugene, a soldier stationed in Germany. Elisabeth was working in a factory and did not speak English.  Eugene did not speak German.  They met through mutual friends and basically communicated through sign language.  Elisabeth taught Eugene German and Eugene taught Elisabeth English.  Love prevailed.  Elisabeth and Eugene, married on December 21,1961 in Furth, Germany. Eugene went on to adopt Elisabeths daughter, Isolde.  They went on to have two biological children, Deborah Ann, and Manuela. Elisabeth and Eugene were happily married until his passing on August 12, 1994.

Elisabeth is survived by her daughter Manuela Rorie Kelley.  Manuela is a registered nurse and was able to provide loving care in their home to her mother.

Elisabeth was a homemaker and family caregiver.   She helped to raise all of her grandchildren and most of her great grandchildren. She is survived by her grandchildren, Billy Dee Rorie, Edward Cody, Demetrius Cody, and Natasha Shortte.  Elisabeth also leaves behind a host of great grandchildren.  All who she loved very much.

Elisabeth was affectionally known as Oma to all who knew her.
