Earnestine Lofton was born in a little house by the creek, on Washington Street, in Bamboo Mississippi, on September 5, 1936. By two loving parents Annie Hughes, who was number 5 of fourteen children and Clifton Jennings, who was Annie Hughes, childhood sweetheart.
Earnestine was the youngest Daughter of two, the eldest Essie B. The two remained inseparable, as they grew up. Having many adventures, exploring life to the fullest, always, happy to share loving and funny stories of their family and friends.
After Earnestine's, early school days, she attended Nursing School, then went on to marrying, her High School sweetheart, Samuel Peters Lofton. Where she accompanied him around the United States and Germany, as he served the United States Army.
Once returning to the states, with eagerness, they reunited with both sides of their family. In 1971 the two then moved their Family to Texas, where her Husband Mr. Lofton, remained in the
Army and Earnestine gained employment at Halstead Elementary School as a Custodian. Where she made many, many friends young and old that still adore her to this day. Earnestine, alone side her Husband still found enough time, energy, and strength to raise Seven children; cook clean and run their children, around town for their school and sports activities. And if that wasn't enough, she still pursued her love for socializing. Earnestine was an active in the Killeen VFW, where she became President of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed, dressing up, hosting dinner parties, playing cards, bowing, and an avid Bulldog fan, attending every Friday night game. Earnestine found joy being surrounded by family and friends, she was full of life, always greeting you will a laugh; big smile and if you were lucky good food. She loved to strike up good conversation and ways interested in how other's where doing… After many years at Halstead, Earnestine, transferred to Martin Walker Elementary continuing as a Custodian, Physical Education assistant, and Coached Jump Rope Competitions. Which was one of highlights of her work career, all before retiring from Copperas Cove School System.
In her last days, she longed for her family and even called out to some that proceeded her in death. they weren't all around to comfort her in the flesh but in Christ she will be comforted. So, it gives me great comfort in knowing that she knew she was loved…I also, find great comfort in knowing she has gone on to glory but not a lone, she's finally able to rejoice and be one again with her mother, and sister and many aunts that she adored. Free from pain and sickness. And with a big smile on her face and laughter in her heart.
Earnestine answered the call from God to take on her heavenly form on Tuesday 13,2022.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Three Daughter's Gwen Brown, Barbara Richardson and Mechele Lofton, Three Son's Mitchell Lofton, Sam Lofton, and Bruce Lofton. Earnestine has fifteen Grandchildren and 16 Great grandchildren. A Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Earnestine's Husband, Son Kenneth Ray Lofton, parent's, sister, aunt's, uncle, and cousins proceed her in death.
