Funeral service for Mr. Donovan Garfield Montelaro, 60 of Copperas Cove, TX will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Friend at 3:00 p.m. at the Friendship Cemetery in Jewett, TX. Cemetery address is: 5857 CR 321 Jewett, TX 75846.

Donovan G. Montelaro, age 60, passed away on July 28, 2025. He was born on February 13, 1965, at Fort Huachuca Army Hospital in Sierra Vista, Arizona, to Elizabeth and Senator Montelaro. He was the eldest of their three children.

Donovan spent his early years as an "Army brat," traveling with his family to various posts, including Panama, Texas, Georgia, and Osterholz, Germany. While living in Texas, he was baptized on January 16, 1977, at Pentecostal Experience Church in Copperas Cove. The family eventually settled in Louisiana, where Donovan graduated from Walter L. Cohen Senior High School in New Orleans in 1985. A talented student-athlete, he earned varsity letters in both football and basketball and played trumpet in the school band. He later attended Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, where he studied welding.

Donovan eventually made his home in Copperas Cove, Texas, where he was a member of House of Faith–Prayer, Praise and Worship. He enjoyed listening to music, spending time with friends, and following the weather with natural curiosity and interest. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Donovan remained loyal to his team through every season.

Though quiet and introverted by nature, Donovan had a thoughtful spirit and a tender heart. He often celebrated the accomplishments of others and offered words of encouragement when they were needed most. Beneath his calm and private exterior was a man of quiet depth, compassion, and presence.

He is survived by his parents, Senator G. Montelaro and Elizabeth R. Montelaro; his sisters, Teru and Holly; and his three nephews, Sirius, Sebastian, and Samuel. Donovan was a steady and familiar presence—someone whose quiet way of showing up was felt and appreciated by those who knew and loved him.

Donovan will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his quiet strength, and the simple, steady ways he showed up for others. He will be deeply missed.
