Mrs. Thorne passed away August 30, 2021 in Killeen, TX.
Diana Lynn (Askew) Thorne was born on May 14, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Edward and Lillian Askew. Diana was a spunky and strong-willed little girl, who often followed after her older siblings. She was the baby of the family, youngest of six and proud of it. Diana graduated from Westinghouse Memorial High School in 1968. She was formerly married to the late Byron "Butter" Thomas of North Versailles, PA.
Early in her life, Diana worked as a nurse's aide, before retiring from UPMC of Pittsburgh as a front desk receptionist. She enjoyed doing that for many years. On January 9, 1998, Diana married Ralph Thorne. They enjoyed traveling and spending time together. Diana was also a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church of North Versailles, PA (Crestas Terrace). She attended the church as a youth and later rejoined the ministry, serving in the mass choir and as the church deacon's secretary.
In 2013, Diana, along with her husband Ralph, relocated to Killeen, Texas, where she remained until her passing. Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband Ralph Thorne of Killeen, Texas; daughters, Cassandra Singletary of McKeesport, PA and Tiffany Savage (spouse Ronald Sr.) of Florence, TX; son, Andre Taylor of McKeesport, PA, her oldest sister, Dorothy Mullen of North Versailles, PA, sister, Shirley "Monica" Clifton of Rowlett, TX, sisters (nieces) Paula Mullen of McKeesport, PA, Romodore Abdullah (spouse Mobarick II) of North Versailles, PA, DeLilyan Donaldson (spouse Bill) of Rockwall, TX; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
