Funeral services for Mr. Delshawn J. Wadlington 30, of College Station, Texas will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, 12:00 noon at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, Texas. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Viewing will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Wadlington passed away June 25, 2021 in College Station, Texas. He was born June 17,1991.

As a little boy, Delshawn struggled to walk (it took a while for the rest of his body to catch up with his head), but once he became a man, he had no problems walking upright, especially when it came to family. Like most young men, Delshawn wrestled with deciding what he wanted to do in life. Still, there was one area of his life that was unquestionable, his fierce love and strong sense of protection for his brothers.
Delshawn took his role as the older brother very seriously. Although he was shorter in stature, he had no problems exerting his authority as the older brother. He loved his sisters and was proud of the "Phenomenal Women" they have become. If you asked him, he would say he had the "Soul" of a dancer like his sisters, unfortunately his feet didn't always cooperate with the rest of his body.

According to Delshawn there wasn't a video game that he couldn't dominate. From the old school 2008 College Hoops to Madden NFL. The self-proclaim "Master of the Curry Slide" he kept his shot meter on Green, and of course, if he didn't score high, it wasn't because of his lack of skills; it was because the game was lagging.

Delshawn had a passionate love of food and often boasted about his culinary skills, particularly his banana pudding. Although he was a Millennial, Delshawn shared an appreciation of "Old School" music with his Dad. They would go "Back Down Memory Lane" with the Temptations (the
original group with David Ruffin) and the O'Jays. Our prayer is that one day we will have a "Family Reunion" in heaven.

Most sons are protective of their mothers, and Delshawn was no exception. As the oldest son, he would occasionally overstep his boundaries, like the time he tried to tell his Mother what to do (that didn't end well). Delshawn's strong love for his Mother had a profound effect on his life, and as much as he oved her, there was another female in his life that filled his heart – his daughter Zmayhia. He was a nurturing father, and after the birth of his daughter, his already sensitive nature became softer. He had an even fiercer love for Zmayhia than he had for his siblings. He willingly took on the challenge of being a single father; the two of them were inseparable. Although he spoiled Zmayhia incessantly, he  still adhered to some of the old-school values (no TikTok) that his Mom instilled in him and his brothers.

His compassion and loyalty were not just limited to his family. If you were Delshawn's friend, you had a friend for life, a man who didn't mind sharing whatever he had.

If you ever had an opportunity to meet Delshawn and he graced you with his smile, you would have remembered him. His smile was infectious; when he looked at you and smiled; you couldn't help but smile back. Even though life had thrown him a few curveballs, Delshawn still managed
to smile through the good and the bad. Someone said that a smile is the universal language of kindness, it blesses the one who receives it and the one who gives it–in that case Delshawn was truly blessed.

There is a passage of scripture in the Book of Isaiah, which communicates the thought that God's ways are not our ways. We may never truly understand why Delshawn's time on this earth was limited to 30 years, but we are grateful to God for the time we had with him.

Delshawn's memory lives on in his parents, Latasha R. Coleman and Edward Wadlington; his daughter Zmayhia, the "Apple of His Eye;" his brothers: Raphael Willis, Shaquille Willis, and Roy Willis; his sisters: Jameia Wadlington, Jashonna Wadlington, and Aileena
Wadlington; his grandparents: Patricia Bell, Virginia Taylor and Edward Wadlington, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
