Delores Lynette Bowsky, age 80, fell asleep in the Lord on July 29, 2024, in Killeen, Texas. Born on March 4, 1944, in Whiteville, North Carolina, to David Allen Jones Sr. and Nina Matheis Jones, Delores was known for her big heart and her beauty, both inside and out.
Delores moved from Whiteville to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, as a young girl. She graduated from Hempfield Area Senior High School in 1962. She then moved to Gary, Indiana. In 1970, she married Oswald Bowsky and later began her career as a phlebotomist. After Oswald's passing, Delores moved to Texas, where she continued her career and spent the last 35+ years.
Delores found immense joy in gardening, plants, flowers, word puzzles and most of all, her grandchildren. Her unwavering kindness, sense of humor and beautiful smile will be missed more than we can put into words.
She is survived by her children: Terri (Val) King, Leon (Darcey) Brown Jr., and Oslynn (Ramonne) Foy; her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "2" (Momma 2): Ramonne C. Foy, Rion Foy, Leon Brown III, Sydnie Brown, and Nikolas Brown; and her great-grandchildren: Laschelle King, Tailor Crockett, Jaheim Crockett, Jacob King, and Alexis King.
Her siblings include Carolyn Berger, Phyllis Mitchell (Dr. Charles Mitchell), Dorine Boyd, Ronald Hogans, Virnell Jones Sr., Veronica Isaacs, Belinda Jones, Charlene Cook, David (Valerie) Jones Sr., Kevin Jones, and Andre (Amy) Jones, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Delores was preceded in death by her father, David Allen Jones Sr.; her mother, Nina Matheis Jones; her granddaughter, Tai-Lynn King; her aunt, Lela Mae Jones; her uncle, John Henry Jones; her step-mother, Viola Jones; Coleman Myricks (daughter Terri King); Leon Brown Sr. (son Leon Brown Jr.); and Oswald Bowsky (daughter Oslynn Foy).
We will forever cherish Delores for her sweet nature, fun-loving spirit, and the joy she brought to all of our lives.
