Claudette Jackson was a woman after God's own heart. Born March 29, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas to the late William (Bill) and Pauline McCoy Wilkes. As a child she attended Butler Chapel A.M.E. Church. She graduated from Edison High School in 1969. She married her sweetheart Ira Louis Jackson and they had three children; Vickie (Jackson) Bess, Calethia (Jackson) Thompson, and Ira Jackson Jr. They lived in blessed matrimony for 51 years.
Claudette was a sweet and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She instilled in her children the values and importance of faith in God, as well as love and support of family, friends, and community. She loved to love and knew no strangers. She stepped gracefully into many roles throughout her life and will be remembered for her charity and generosity, her kindness and compassion, her words of wisdom, and her love and faithfulness to God.
She was an avid fisherman and loved to "get her line wet" as she called it. Her other interests include arts and crafts, gardening and cheering on 'her children', who she loved, in all of their activities. There would be no doubt that she was present when her signature yell would rise above the roar of the crowd to motivate and support. She enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors. She worked in airline security, retail, food service and community outreach.
Claudette was a faithful servant with a beautiful heart and the spirit of a missionary. As the wife of a United States soldier, she traveled to locations near and far and served at various churches. In 1986 her family returned to Killeen, Texas where she became a member of Anderson Chapel A.M.E. Church and served faithfully as a Missionary and a Class Leader until her homegoing.
Claudette, at the age of 70, was born into eternity on Friday, August 6, 2021, with her devoted family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Edward Wilkes and William T. Wilkes Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: Husband Ira Jackson; daughters Vickie Bess, and Calethia (Sidney) Thompson; son Ira Jackson Jr.; grandson Jalen R. Thompson; sister Thomasine Hutchinson; brother John A. Wilkes, and a host of nephews and nieces.
