Funeral services for Mrs. Callie B. Shaffer 80, of Killeen, TX will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, 12:00 noon at Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church in Copperas Cove, TX. Burial will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, in Killeen, TX.

Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Shaffer passed away March 13, 2025, in Temple, TX. She was born November 27, 1944, in Embry, MS.

Celebration of A Truly Fulfilled Life

Callie Mae Bell Shaffer was born in Embry, MS on November 27, 1944, to her parents Elder Alfred Nathaniel and Missionary Willie Mae (Shaw) Bell, who absolutely adored her and her siblings. She always had stories to share of her loving parents and how much she loved and adored them.

She confessed Christ at a young age under Bishop Joe Nathan Bell. She matured to become an active and faithful servant of the Lord. She later united with Bible Way Missionary Baptist Church on July 27, 1986, where she served as a faithful Deaconess and a member, as well as President of her Mission Circle. She was a dedicated Sunday School member and supported numerous activities of the church. Most importantly to her, serving on the church's Education Committee for several years. She devoted her time and efforts to Bible Way for the better part of nearly 40 years.

She attended and graduated from Eupora High School. She then went on to Okolona Junior College. She completed her studies and obtained her degree from Mississippi Valley State University, where she developed and found her passion for teaching and educating youth. She was a teacher in the truest sense of the word, impacting the lives of hundreds of students over her 40-year career. She loved children and she loved being an educator. She pushed for anyone and everyone to get an education, reminding them that it's never too late and it is the one thing that can never be taken from them. Her career as a teacher took her to many locations including Grenada and Eupora, MS as well as others culminating her career at Fort Hood (Cavazos), TX. She was recognized with rewards for her outstanding professionalism and exceptional talent and hard work in the classroom.

Sis. Shaffer met the love of her life; Johnnie Shaffer and It was an everlasting love. They were united in Holy Matrimony on October 4, 1969. They were excited to start their new lives together and couldn't wait to start a family and their children meant the world to them. They were married for 36 wonderful, loving years only to be separated by his death but now together again rejoicing before the Lord.

Sis. Shaffer was blessed with four children: DeGraffenreed Shaffer, Killeen, TX, Nathalie Dickson (Cornelius) Crowley, TX, DeCarlos Shaffer, Killeen, TX and Nicholas Shaffer (Joanna), Cibolo, TX.

She was doubly blessed with ten grandchildren; DeCarlos Zuniga, Dae'Ron Grant (Isela), DeMarqus Shaffer, Deandre Shaffer (Maria), Donovan Ortiz-Rios, Nianna Shaffer, Aryanna Shaffer, Nicholas Shaffer, Jr., Alainna Shaffer and Victoria Dickson and boiled over with joy with four great-grandchildren (and one on the way); Laura, Sophia, Eli and Elias.

Everyone who knew Sis. Shaffer knew how much she loved God first and foremost. She loved the outdoors; she loved to go walking or just to sit outside on her patio. She had a green thumb and loved plants and flowers. She even did some gardening when she could. She loved traveling and shopping, she just liked to 'go'. She loved people and adored children. And she loved to talk!

She will always be remembered for her unconditional love. We couldn't have asked for a better Mother, Sister, Grandma or Friend, and will miss her every day. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elder Alfred Nathaniel and Missionary Willie Mae (Shaw); husband, Johnnie Shaffer; six brothers, Frank Bell, Joe Bell, James Bell, A.L. Bell, Alfred Bell, Lloyd Bell and five sisters, Jeffrie Tellis, Flora Bell, Magdalena Mitchell, Mae Frances Dumas and Naomia Hogan

She is survived by her two sisters Stacy Robinson and Helen Bishop and a bonus brother Johnny Wayne Farmer; her four children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
