Graveside services for Mrs. Bonnie Jean Young 89, of Killeen, TX will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport, TX.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX prior to the service.  Mrs. Young passed away March 26, 2022, in Round Rock TX. She was born April 20, 1932, in Wilson, TX.

Killeen—Bonnie Young, 89, died Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Poets Walk Memory Care Community in Round Rock TX.

Bonnie was preceded in death by Al Young, her husband of 65 years.  She is survived by her brother Arvin Wendell Kilpatrick and his wife Betty of Lubbock TX. She is also survived by her son, Dennis Young and his wife Elaine; her son, Kerry Young and his fiancé Jennifer; and her daughter Teresa Cormier and her husband Keith. Bonnie Young is also survived by her grandchildren, Anna Young Strickler and her husband Tom, Dean Young and his wife Kelsey, John Young, Corey Cormier and his fiancé Anna, Christopher Cormier, and Caleb Cormier. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter Emma Strickler and one great-grandson Cooper Young.

Bonnie was born in Wilson, TX and raised in the small west Texas town of Girard.  She was the daughter of Virgil and Sue Kilpatrick. It was there that she met the love of her life, Al Young, and they were married in 1953.   During her life she also lived in Snyder, Lubbock, and Killeen, Texas.

Bonnie loved working in an office.  Early on she worked as a bookkeeper, she assisted her husband in starting an educational supply business and she worked in administration at a Junior College in Snyder TX.

She also loved her family and church.  She spent many hours at ball fields and school events.   She loved being active in church life and the friendships they brought.

Bonnie lived her later life in Killeen TX.  She worked alongside her husband in a real estate venture they started.  He had the great personality, but she did the heavy lifting to make things work.  She always played a supportive role in her family's entrepreneurial ventures and was never heard to say, "I told you so" in the wake of any failures. And though life brought many challenges, she was never known to complain.  Born during the Great Depression, she learned to appreciate the blessings that came her way and always tried to be generous to others in many ways.

At the end of Bonnie's life, when her physical health failed, what once again stood out was her subtle wit and the grit and determination of a West Texas country girl who loved her God and family to the end.

We will forever love and miss her.
