Funeral service for Bishop Kennith Marvin Simon, 72 of Copperas Cove, Texas will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Liberty Christian Center in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at the church.

Bishop Kennith Marvin Simon, (72), of Copperas Cove, TX, transitioned to his eternal rest on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.  Bishop was born on May 18, 1951, to the late Robert Simon Sr. and Carrie Simon (McCain) in Saginaw, Michigan.

Bishop accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age. He served as the Chaplain for Broad River Correctional Institution in Columbia, South Carolina.  He founded and pastored seven churches across the United States and was ultimately consecrated to the office of Bishop. As a selfless servant, Bishop met the needs of Saginaw County's youth as a foster grandparent and board member of Saginaw Preparatory Academy.  Bishop was also an astute businessman. He was a Master Barber. Bishop owned a cosmetology school and several hair salons during the 1980s and 1990s. Bishop was also versatile in his business ventures. He owned and operated an upholstery shop and fish restaurant as well. He lived by two mottos (1) "I'm too tough to quit" and (2) "Setbacks are not defeats."

Bishop was well known for his routine prowess as a dapper man. He was savvy and always presented with fashion-forward attire accentuated with pleasantly fragranced cologne. He was a smooth dancer from childhood until the day of his passing.  Bishop was also known to tell some corny and crazy jokes. Memorably, Bishop maintained the most spectacular smile that was so infectious it naturally resulted in a return smile and probably a laugh.

Bishop was known by many names and titles. His Aunt Mabel named him Kennith. As a child, he was called "Ro", short for Roosevelt. His mother's best friend selected that name. He answered to "Ro" until he found out that he could not graduate high school without providing a birth certificate reflecting his legal name. Most knew him as Kennith since high school; however, he had many titles including: "The Biz," daddy, father, granddaddy, great pap, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, Bud, and most notably - Bishop.

Bishop was preceded in death by Robert Simon, Sr., (father), Carrie Simon (mother); and his three brothers Robert Jr., Willie James, and Elijah.  Bishop is survived by his fiancé Gwendolyn McHenry; his four children: Kenneth Simon, Mira Blakey (Paul), Jeremiah Simon (Chanda), Marlana Sumpter, (Dedrick); two sisters, Dorothy Simon-Boone, and Carrie Simon- McLeod. Bishop has fourteen grandchildren: Andre Walker, Kiara Blakey, Devonte Simon, Kiara Gray, Jada Spellman, Adam Harrison, Kiana Bush, Jarrion Simon, Myra Simon, Nehemiah Brown, Paul Blakey Jr., Ny'Aire Blakey, Andreona Blakey, Dedric Sumpter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
