Memorial service for Ms. Bettye Johnson, 90 of Killeen, TX will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Bettye Johnson, daughter of the late Susie and Joseph Jones, was born on March 28, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life peacefully in her sleep in the morning of October 26, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Bettye received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She was known as "Teenie" to her family and close friends. She was also known as "Lady Day" in reference to her favorite singer, Billie Holiday whose songs Bettye sang gracefully. Bettye sang those songs and many more, and also danced during gatherings with family and friends. She also loved to play the tambourine while listening to and singing old school spirituals.
She also played the spoons while listening to the Blues.

Bettye was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very special person who was loved dearly by family and friends. Bettye was very humorous and quick witted and had a saying for everything. Family and friends enjoyed visiting her home because they knew they would be eating good food and be fully entertained. Everyone loved her pig feet and potato salad, among other dishes.

She leaves to mourn: her daughter, Susan Blake; son-in-law, William Blake; son, Gary McIntyre; daughter-in-law, Tonya McIntyre; grandchildren, Dana, Jay, Ashley, Chloe, Tori, and Carli; great grandchildren, Jaylaan, and Kameron; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends
