Obituary

Visitation for Mrs. Bettye J. Johnson, 77 of Kempner, TX will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen, TX. Burial with graveside service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at the Moss Hill Cemetery in Woodville, TX.

Mrs. Johnson passed away January 31, 2021 in Temple, TX.

Bettye J. Johnson was born April 16, 1943 to parents Linnie and Ivy Hadnot in Woodville, TX. She graduated from Henry T. Scott High School in Woodville, TX. and soon after, married her high school sweetheart, Alvis Moye. They immediately started a family and had three children under the age of four when Alvis was tragically killed in an automobile accident. As a single parent, Bettye cared for and provided for her children until she met and married Woodrow Johnson. He was a strong father figure for their children, and all other children who came into their lives. They were a happy family until Woodrow passed away. She later married Tindall (TE) Rogers who passed away in 2019.

At the time of her passing, Bettye lived at the Rosewood Skilled Nursing Facility. She was cheerful, mentally, and spiritually strong, had unwavering faith in God and love for her family. She was known to be loving and caring, and everybody in the family knew to go to her house when they wanted lots of great food! She was also a great seamstress.

Bettye was a past member of New Shady Grove Baptist Church of Woodville, TX, where she was baptized.  She was a founding member of Seed of Faith Family Worship Center of Woodville, TX. She was a current member of Pershing Park Baptist Church of Killeen, TX under the leadership of her son, Pastor Dale A. Moye, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory: son, Pastor Dale A. Moye, Sr. (Sarah) of Kempner, TX; daughter, Kimberly K. Cook (Troy, Jr.) of Woodville, TX; brothers, Joe L. Hadnot (Joyce Marie) of Woodville, TX, and Steven Richard Hadnot (Karina) of Sugarland, TX; sisters, Iva Carter of St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Ann Hutchins (Bobby) of Harker Heights, TX, Carol Ann Settles of Harker Heights, TX ad Ida Joyce Mitchell of Woodville, TX; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; ; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents Linnie and Reverend Ivy Hadnot, son, Dean A. Moye, brothers, Charles, Willie James, Lee Henry and Tommie Hadnot, and sister, Maurice Williams.
