Mrs. Bertha Landez passed away on May 7th, 2026. Visitation and Rosary for Bertha Landez 90, of Killeen will be Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026, 12:00 p.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

Bertha was born in Edinburg, Texas in May 1936. She lived in Killeen with her daughter, Criselda, and grandson, Jose (Pepe). Bertha was thoughtful, welcoming, selfless, and loving. She enjoyed tending to her plants, telling stories, calling her sisters, and above all, spending time with her family. Bertha loved her family dearly and always put them first. Through her journey of 90 years, she touched many lives with her wisdom, humor, and an unwavering spirit of perseverance.

Mrs. Landez served Killeen ISD for over 15 years as a bilingual teaching aide. As the wife of a soldier, Bertha got to travel the world. She lived abroad in Germany for many years with her growing family.

She is survived by her daughter Criselda Landez; three grandsons, Jeremy and Daniel Fernandez and Jose Landez; granddaughters, Rhianna and Julianna Landez; eight great-grandchildren, and her siblings Ofilia Cantu, Elida Tijerina Cruz, and Arturo Tijerina.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jose Luz Landez, daughter Priscilla Landez Fernandez, sons John Edgar Landez and Joe Edward Landez, and siblings Natalia Wells, Leonila Lord, and Minerva Eureste.
