Memorial service for Mrs. Bertha D. Darnell, 89 of Killeen, TX will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Bertha Darnell went to be with her heavenly Father on January 14, 2023. She was born in Jackson, Tennessee on March 26, 1933, to Henry and Pearline Yarbrough.

She was a government employee at Fort Hood, Texas for many years and retired in 1996. She loved to decorate her home in Gods colors, brown (be warm), and gold (faith). She loved to read and was an avid daily reader of the Killeen Daily Herald for more than 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry M. Darnell Sr., sons, Bob Darnell and Nathaniel Darnell, grandsons, Andre Lamont Davidson, Van Yarbrough, Dean Darnell, Dan Darnell and Marshall Harden IV, brother Willie B. Yarbrough, and sisters Jenny James, Mary Lee Bonds and Vernelle Bradley.

Survivors include son Henry M. Darnell, Jr. (Dawn), daughter Toni P. Davidson (Jesse), son Bruce Darnell, daughter Freda Darnell-Harden, daughter Nona Chambers, daughter Cassandra Bailey (Donald), daughter Sylvia Darnell, daughter Amy Darnell and daughter-in-law Sylvia Darnell

She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren Erin Davidson, Sundee Darnell, Tuesdee Darnell, Henry Darnell III, Devyn Darnell, Jamal Chatman, Jaylen Bailey, Summer Chambers Harmon (Rhonda), Nathaniel Darnell, Jr. (Lena), Breanna Darnell, Curtis Bryant (Von) and Willie Pulliam (Lonna). She also shared her heart with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Darnell became "Mom" and "Granny" to many of her children's friends including Robert Brown, Kim Goins, Gail Hannah, Kiara Porter and many more. She was well- loved!
