Funeral service for Mrs. Barbara Faye DeBose, 62 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at New Jerusalem International Baptist Church in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at Garden of Memories Cemetery, in Killeen, TX.
Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.
Mrs. Debose passed away May 16, 2023, in Harker Heights, TX.
Mrs. Barbara Faye DeBose was born December 1, 1960, to Johnas Madison and Easter Pearl Lewis in Pineville, Louisiana. She graduated from Peabody Magnet High School in Alexandria, Louisiana and continue her education at the University of Phoenix where she obtained her bachelor's degree in business.
On November 28, 1997, Barbara married her loving husband, Keenan W. DeBose I. Barbara and Keenan shared over 30 beautiful years together and founded New Jerusalem International Baptist Church in March 2017.Her service as First Lady of the Church was near and dear to her heart. During her 6 years, as First Lady, Sister DeBose was heavily involved in the church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, leader of the church's Taking It to the Streets Ministry, she was a Deaconess, Co-Spearheaded the "Sip & Share Ministry" for the women of NJIBC, and directed the Praise Worship Prayer Team. Sister DeBose also participated in many speaking engagements throughout Central TX. She was indeed a true woman of God.
In addition to serving in her church, Barbara also experienced a successful professional career in the field of nutrition beginning in 1986 at Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana. She held the position of Food Service Director at San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown, TX and spent 16 years of her career as the Hospitality Director at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, TX.
Barbra was preceded in death by her father, Johnas Madison, and her mother, Easter Pearl Holmes. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Pastor Keenan W. DeBose I; daughters, LaToya "Nicole" Wilson, (Bennie Wilson III) and Lakeena DeBose (Stephen); sons, Christopher Brandon White, Keenan R. Jackson (Karen) and Keenan DeBose Jr. (Alacia); grandchildren, Caleb James LaFleur Jr, Nicalea Janae Lafleur, and Janiyah Lenae Calais. A host of family which includes brothers, Johnny "Ray" Sewell, Troy Charleston, Michael Holmes, Herman "Peedie" Holmes, Johnny Madison, and Frederick Madison; sisters, Patricia Madison, Jacqueline Sewell, Angela Bryd (Elijah), Latwanna Dwellingham (Tracy Sr.), Shterrica Garrison (Damarius) and Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, and Nephews.
