Funeral service for Apostle Thomas Earl O'Quinn, 66 of Harker Heights, TX will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022, 12:00 p.m. at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen, TX. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Viewing will be held two hours prior to the service (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) at the church.

Mr. O'Quinn passed away May 14, 2022, in Harker Heights, TX.

Thomas Earl O'Quinn affectionally known as "Superman" was born to Tom O'Quinn-Morgan and China B. Oliver on November 14, 1955, in Pattison, MS and grew up in Port Gibson, MS. At the age of 12, his family moved to Brazoria, TX. Thomas excelled in academics and athletics. He was proficient in football, basketball, and track and field events such as long jump and hurdles. He won numerous awards and achievements for his athletic abilities. He attended Blinn College and transferred to Texas Christian University (TCU) on a football scholarship. During the summer while working at Dow Chemical Plant, he accepted his call to ministry. Soon after, he transferred to Paul Quinn College in Waco, TX. He pursued his studies in social work and the ministry. While serving in the Ministerial Club on campus, Thomas met the love of his life Sherri Johnson. Although he was a person that didn't seek attention, his zeal for knowledge, intellectual conversations, and change gained him a position as campus student President. While attending Paul Quinn College, he joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.  After graduating with his degree in Social Work, he married Sherri Johnson. He accepted a position in Killeen, TX working for Texas Department of Human Services and later became a Crisis Counselor for teenagers and parents for Option House in Killeen. He then decided to pursue an Alternative Education degree to become a teacher. He worked as a substitute teacher in KISD for a brief time then was hired by Copperas Cove ISD as an Elementary Physical Education Teacher. He taught at Clements/Parsons Elementary for 22 years and was known as, Coach O'Quinn "The Legend", by his peers, students, and parents.

He was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. (AMEC) and pastored three churches. While teaching, he traveled over 200 miles away to pastor until he was reassigned to St. Matthews in Burnet, TX. He pastored there for seven years until God told him to start new work in Killeen, TX. He and his wife founded two churches in the AMEC, then later became independent and started Tabernacle of Praise and Worship Center- Perfecting of the Saints Ministries in Killeen, TX. He served many in the community until he changed his address to another realm in glory.

He was preceded in death by his mother China B. Oliver, father Tom O'Quinn -Morgan, stepfather Hillard Mack, and brother Ernest O'Quinn. He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on the work of serving others, a loving wife Sherri, two children Jaun'uelle Nicole "Cole" and Sean'Thomas De'vall (Katelyn), two grandchildren Jordan and Tianna, nieces and nephews Chandra Glasper (T'Ana and Na'Sir), Jazzelle (Zekius Jr.), Azalia, Arbriyah, sister-in-laws Cynthia Johnson and Marian Johnson, brother-in-law Marcus Johnson (Arbra), the Oliver Family-Brazoria,TX, a host of relatives and friends in Texas and Mississippi, the Clements/Parsons Elementary family, and committed Tabernacle of Praise and Worship Center  church family.
