Funeral service for Ms. Antoinette Berdelle Battle, 35 of Killeen, TX will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Veiwing will be held two hours prior to the service  (9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.

Ms. Battle passed away July 28, 2023, in Killeen, TX. She was born July 30, 1987, in Baltimore, MD.

Antoinette was born to Veronica B. McGlotten and Anthony L. Battle on 30 July 1987 in Baltimore, Maryland. Antoinette attended primary school in Baltimore briefly and continued in Mannheim, Germany.  Antoinette accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour; she was baptized and started serving at age 12. Byrd enjoyed teaching Sunday School and having friends that she shared her same goals and dreams. Byrd participated in various community youth group programs and obtained her first job as a bagger at Sembach Air Base in Germany.

As a child, she was ambitious, courageous, loving, and spoiled her younger brothers rotten; it was evident that   Byrd loved to be around children and developed a passion for teaching children while babysitting, decorating, photography, reading, writing, and sipping tea.

Byrd graduated from Kaiserslautern American High School in Germany. She was quite the social butterfly; young and older adults admired her everywhere she went, and her infectious humor and smile would brighten up any atmosphere. Her various passions created a desire to pursue her education to prepare her to teach in the Killeen Independent School district. Byrd was a determined young lady who did not change her beliefs, character, or morals to fit in with anyone; education was the key.  Although she earned her Bachelor's Degree and two Master's in Education and Leadership, she did not stop' she obtained her Principal Certification a few years ago and began her Doctorial Program recently. Throughout her life, she enjoyed God's word, networking, and learning about effective leadership in the home and community.

After coming to Fort Hood with her family in 2005, pursuing her career, and working as a substitute teacher in Copperas Cove, and Killeen ISD, Byrd met Demetri Jones, fell in love, and gave birth to DeSean in 2010. Desean became her greatest motivation and inspired her aspiration even more. Byrd poured her heart into this young man and did her best to ensure he knew the Lord, how to pray, learned to read, write, count, and play in diverse sports groups in school and throughout Killeen from the time he was four years old.

In 2018, Antoinette's life turned upside down as she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, the number one killer for African American Women worldwide. and she still took her cross and faced every treatment, surgery, hospitalization, and sickness with determination and faith that she would pull through in the end. Ms. Battle was a private woman who did not share her illness with everyone. Her son did not go everywhere; neither was he allowed to be with just every influence. DeSean saw her sick after surgeries or treatments and was at her side throughout her condition, going to and from the hospital while her mother took care and responsibility for them. Sometimes he fully understood and sometimes did not, but he learned to serve and give back to his mother some of what she poured into him.

Antoinette Berdelle Battle left the example and took the lead; she will be missed here on earth as she was preceded in death by her father, Anthony L. Battle, and her fiance' Demetri Jones. She leaves to cherish her life's efforts and accomplishments her mother, Veronica B Harris-McGlotten, son Desean A. Jones, siblings Victoria Shumake- Brother in law John Soles, Thomas McGlotten Jr., Vincent McGlotten-Sister in-law Nyaha Gibbs, Eileen Cleary, Sandra Harris, Uncles- Nathaniel Harris, Great Uncles-Rayford and Jimmy Gillie, Great Aunts Emily Hall, Mildred Holmes, her second family the Lewis's, Clint & Michelle Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
