Mr. Jackson passed away June 18, 2025, in Killeen, TX. He was born June 12, 1936, in Caldwell, TX.

Alfred Ray Jackson of Killeen, TX, was born on June 12, 1936, in Bryan, TX, to the late Cordus Jackson, Sr., and the late Leara Bowser Jackson.  He was the fifth of eleven children and was affectionately called Ray by family and friends.  He confessed Christ as his Savior at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Caldwell, TX.

He became an avid sports fan and played basketball, football, and baseball as a teenager.   However, Ray liked playing basketball the most and excelled at it as a high school student.  He graduated from Smith High School located in Gause, TX, in May 1955.

Ray was united in holy matrimony to Marlene Jacqueline McCullough on March 1, 1958. The union produced three children. Ray spent many years teaching his children the importance of love, family, church membership, friendship, kindness, and generosity.  He also led by example and showed his children the value of working hard and doing their personal best at every task.

He worked for Bestway Delivery trucking company in Cleveland, OH.  Ray also worked for Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, PA, as a machinist for many years.  After he retired from there, Ray and his brother Cordus Jr. worked diligently to maintain the family farm for several years.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Cordus Jackson, Sr. and Leara Bowser Jackson; brothers, William C. Jackson, Sr., Ural A. Jackson, Cordus Jackson, Jr., and Lawrence Jackson, Sr.; and one sister, Esterlene Harvey.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Marlene Jackson, and three children: Derek Ray Jackson, Sr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Lita Jackson Hendrix (James) of Murrysville, PA, and Terrelyn Moses (Harold) of Killeen, TX. along with eight grandchildren:  Ridrika Allen of Newport News, VA, Derek Ray Jackson, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeriah Hendrix of Pittsburgh, PA, Joy Hendrix and Jairus Hendrix of Murrysville, PA, Joel Moses and Joshua Moses of Killeen, TX, Caleb Moses of San Antonio, TX, as well as three great-grandchildren, Tyrik Allen, Amari Allen, and Jayden Moses; one brother, Charles Jackson (Shirley) and four sisters, Wanda Edwards, Evelyn Samuel, Carolyn Freeman (Sammy), and Rosemary Jackson in addition to a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
