Funeral service for Mr. Alfred Carlton, 73 of Temple, TX will be held Saturday, April 17, 2021, 12:00 p.m. at 8th Street Baptist Church in Temple, TX. Burial with military honors will be held Tuesday, April 20, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 16, 2021 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Eighth Street Baptist Church in Temple, TX.
Mr. Carlton passed away March 30, 2021 in Temple, TX.
Alfred Carlton was born May 28, 1947 to parents Lizzie Mae and Albert Carlton in Houston, TX. Alfred was raised in Temple, TX. He graduated from Dunbar High School in Temple, TX.
Alfred enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1967. He served in the Vietnam war. He served his country proudly and received an honorable discharge, his awards, medals, and ribbons include: The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960 Device, 20/s Bars, Expert (M-14) and, Markman (M-16).
After his military career he became a Veterinarian's Assistant at Swain Animal Clinic in Temple, TX for over 20 years. He later opened and ran Do Drop Inn Social Club for 8 years in Temple, TX and then went into full retirement.
Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Gloria Faye Carlton of Killeen, TX; sons, Wille B. Hill (Cleancy) of Temple, TX, Joe D. Davis (Melvena) of Killeen, TX, Demetrius D. Thomas of Killeen, TX; daughters, Trina L. Johnson (Keith) of Killeen, TX, and Rhonda L. Mayse of Killeen, TX; brothers, Roy E. Carlton, Sr. (Robbie) of Temple, TX, Albert Carlton, Jr. of Temple, TX,; sisters, Angelean Rogers of Temple, TX, Gracie M. Harris of Arlington, TX, Helen Petty of Temple, TX, and Wanda Sue Smith of Temple, TX ; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lizzie Mae and Albert Carlton, sons Alfred Hill and Dominic Davis, Sr., brothers Melvin Carlton, Johnny Lee Johnson and Robert Carlton, and sister Georgia Bonner.
