Funeral service for Ms. Aja Selura Jones, 33 of Killeen, TX will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Vision Community Church in Killeen, TX. Burial will follow the service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023 (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) at Chisolm's Family Funeral Home in Killeen, TX.
Ms. Jones passed away July 19, 2023, in Killeen, TX.
Miss Aja Selura Jones, 33, of Killeen, Texas, was born in Nuremberg, Germany on February 6, 1990. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized at Union Chapel of Monroe, LA.
She attended Liberty Hill Middle School where she received several academic achievement awards. She was also an active member of the school's choir. She then graduated from C.E. Ellison High School Class of 2008. She was a dedicated member of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). She was encouraged to be a nurse, after the loss of several family members in 2007, to start her medical journey. She attended college at San Angelo State University in 2012 where she obtained her license as a Registered Nurse. Furthering her education at University of Texas Arlington to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of UTA. Her career began at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, and Texas Health HEB (Hurst-Euless-Bedford). God had a different assignment for Aja. She became a traveling nurse with her first assignment in McKinney, Tx followed by her final in Spring, Tx, where she touched many lives. God returned her to Killeen, where she entered God's Kingdom.
Aja was preceded in death by her grandparents: Jesse and Viney Johnson; Willie and Gladys Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Ella S. Jones (Killeen, Tx), and her father Bruce (Renay) Jones (Edgewood, Maryland); Two brothers, Janus W. Jones (Houston, Tx), Latirius (Ebony) Jones (Ft. Riley, KS), sister Krisna Jones (Florence, Al), niece Sydney J. Jones (Missouri City, Tx) and nephew Jordan Jackson (Pflugerville, Tx). She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and a plethora of friends and colleagues.
Special recognition to: Memorial Herman Texas Oncology and Radiation Department; Wound Care Team, Accent Care Hospice Team, and the Seton Medical Center.
To know Aja was to love Aja. Her laughs were infectious, and her smiles were contagious. Her love for life and the lives of others were undeniable. As she walked through her recent journey, her positive and uplifting spirit touched the lives of so many. Amid the process, she was always able to feel peace beyond all understanding. Even through her pain, she still placed the feelings of others above herself. With a smile on her face and the love of Christ in her heart, she understood her career in nursing may continue to thrive or God would open his loving arms and welcome her home. Miss Aja Selura Jones was a beacon of light of joy, hope, peace and love for everyone in the world to see.
